STOP USING THESE ON YOUR SKIN

We are pretty much well versed in the importance of eating an organic mostly plant based diet… however it’s equally as big a deal to think about what you should put on your skin.

I learnt from an early age (thankfully) that if you wouldn’t eat it, then you shouldn’t put in your your skin. Period.

Think about this - there’s hormone patches for women, there’s pain patches, there’s all manner of skin patches we can use, because the skin is a vehicle for delivering medicine into your blood system.

It’s a simple fact, yet so many people don’t think twice about how the ingredients in our favorite skin care products, such as shampoo, make up, sunscreen, lotion, and insect repellent, affect our health.  It’s true.. most people never give a thought about it.

How big of an issue is this and should we really care?

Even small amounts of toxic ingredients in skin products can add up and contribute to endocrine disorders, heart disease, cancer, and a range of other long term autoimmune illnesses, hormone disruptions, ADD, neuro developmental disorders, diabetes and more.

Why are all these compounds used in these products?

Paraben are added as a preservative, to extend the life of your sin cream or beauty products. Phthalates are infused into fragrances, to make our products smell more pleasing when we put them on our bodies. These are both endocrine disrupting chemicals.

There are urine tests, however the best is a fat biopsy. If we did a fat biopsy on the average person, it would not be too pretty, there would be a lot of these toxic compounds stored inside their body.

You need to detox your body regularly, and up regulate your health to help detoxify these compounds. My advice is to start by reducing exposure to toxic products by being conscious with what you bring into your home.

Educate your self on the toxic products in your products by using the free Think Dirty App by EWG. Then DITCH the toxic ones and SWITCH for natural cleaner ones. A secret is most toxic products are lurking under your kitchen sick and in your laundry.  What you wash your clothes with matters, when I swapped out my toxic laundry detergent I stopped triggering my eczema. Think about that.

People seriously don’t think about what they put on their skin every day, and the impact it has to your health over both a long and short term.

It is one of the most important things you do every single day, besides eating, most of us put something on our skin every day… and it’s important to know that many of these daily products are problematic, That’s why it’s important to swap these out for natural alternatives.

Let’s support your body’s natural inbuilt detoxification pathways. To mobilize toxins from your body start by moving your body more and break a sweat, saunas and infrared saunas, Yoga and massage are both great for lymphatic drainage. Maintaining optimal gut function is something to really focus on.

I make sure I take the right supplements, supplements that my body recognizes as food and absorbs into my system. I take a cocktail of dōTERRA natural supplements. I am pretty fanatic about only using natural, non toxic products.  I ensure my supplements and my food choices and my actions support a constant detoxification.

Everybody is different in terms of their genetic predisposition to handle a given amount of

exposure to toxins. An important point is some people will need more support than others. Some of us will need to do more aggressive detoxifying programs than others in order to up regulate their health.

I choose to do a dōTERRA cleanse and restore every 6 months to assist my natural detoxifying pathways and maintain my health. If this has piqued your interest and you want to learn more, send me DM I love hearing from you and comment below.
