Why is Glutathione important?

And how can you boost your Glutathione levels in your body?


Glutathione is a tripeptide made up of three amino acids (cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine) cysteine is an amino acid made up of sulphur.


Crushed garlic is sticky because it contains a lot of sulphur. Garlic is one of the most powerful detoxifying compounds because of it’s sulphur compound.

You may be thinking why is this sulphur sticky substance so important, well think of it as a sticky substance that all your toxins in your body, stick to.


We get exposed to a lot of toxins in our daily lives, so we need to have a lot of detox capacity.

There’s 80,000 new chemicals on the market since last century and only 1% have been tested for safety. Heavy metals, pesticides, plastics all kind of products…


Even before a new born baby takes their first breath, they have on average 270 chemicals inside them.

When we are overloaded with toxins, our body can’t keep up, so we basically over load our body’s capacity for quality detoxification.

How does Glutathione protect against illness? It protects your body in three ways:



  1. Your bodies main detoxifier

  2. Your bodies main antioxidant

  3. Your bodies main regulator of immune function

Antioxidants work by donating one of their electrons to a damaged molecule (free radical). Free radical damage is basically rusting. Wrinkles start to appear from sun damage. Your body has it’s own system antioxidants and you don’t have to get them only from food but some must come from food like vitamin C and Vitamin E.

A lot of your immune system is regulated with Glutathione and t’s effect on many our your body systems. Glutathione levels, if they are high, help with muscle damage, increase recovery time, strength and endurance.


So how do we increase our Glutathione levels?

  1. Exercise is critical; it boosts your immune system, supports detoxification, antioxidant system, and increases your Glutathione levels.

  3. There’s an important cycle in your body called methylation. It’s a chemical process at the center of your biology. If it’s not working, so many things can go wrong. It’s run by Vitamin B12, B 6 and folate.

  4. Milk Thistle is an incredible herb that helps with liver detoxification and boosts your Glutathione levels. Eat a lot of food that contain a lot of sulphur molecules. There’s basically three main categories of food.
